Ohne Sockel gerechnet starten die Holzfiguren bei acht Millimetern, manche Bronzefiguren sind mit zehn Millimetern nur minimal größer.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Entstanden ist ein Panoptikum für alle, die von Klein(st)bildhauerei fasziniert sind, und eine Forschungsplattform für die Kunstgeschichte, die Ottmar Zeiller, geboren 1868, gestorben 1921 (der verschiedentlich auch als Othmar, Ottomar, Otto sowie Zeiler unterschrieb oder genannt wurde), endlich als Akteur entdecken kann, obwohl er nicht im zeitgenössischen Kunstbetrieb reüssierte. Ein Zeitungsartikel von Hugo Greinz, der zu Zeillers Tod erschien, hatte diesem den Ruf des genialischen, aber bummelnden Vaganten eingebracht und steuerte die spätere Rezeption. Es folgten Studien an der Städtischen Modellierschule in München und an der Großherzoglichen Badischen Akademie der bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe bei Ludwig Schmid-Reutte. Es zeigt sich anschaulich, wie knapp der Raum ist, aus dem Ottmar Zeiller seine Figuren herausarbeitete.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Seine Freundschaft mit dem gleichaltrigen Maler \u003Ca title=\"Albin Egger-Lienz im Kulturpool\" href=\"\u002Fsuche?query=albin+egger-lienz\">Albin Egger-Lienz\u003C\u002Fa> (1868–1926), der großformatige Ölgemälde schuf, ist vor diesem Hintergrund überraschend, aber nicht unlogisch – beide loteten Grenzen aus und kamen sich dabei nicht in die Quere. Ottmar Zeiller schuf von Albin Egger-Lienz auf dessen Wunsch 1912 eine Porträtfigur (7,5 cm groß ohne Sockel). Wie durch Briefe belegt ist, erbat Albin Egger-Lienz auch einen Silberguss. Leider war dieser nicht aufzufinden. Immerhin gibt es, wie sich jetzt dank des Katalogs zeigen lässt, eine kleinere Ausführung in \u003Ca title=\"Porträtfigur Albin Egger-Lienz von Ottmar Zeiller im Kulturpool\" href=\"\u002Finstitutionen\u002Fbf\u002FID034\">Holz\u003C\u002Fa> (wohl eine Vorstufe oder Studie), dann die \u003Ca title=\"Holzfigur Albin Egger-Lienz von Ottmar Zeiller im Kulturpool\" href=\"\u002Finstitutionen\u002Fbf\u002FID377\">Holzfigur\u003C\u002Fa>, die als Gussvorlage diente, sowie drei \u003Ca title=\"Bronzefiguren Albin Egger-Lienz von Ottmar Zeiller im Kulturpool\" href=\"\u002Fsuche?query=albin+egger-lienz+stehend&refinementList=dataProvider%255B0%255D=Brenner%2520Forum%26medium%255B0%255D=Bronze\">Bronzeabgüsse\u003C\u002Fa>.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Auch bei anderen Figuren darf man Porträts vermuten, doch wird sich das in den meisten Fällen nicht eindeutig feststellen lassen. Nur wenige Briefe an ihn haben sich gefunden. Die Rekonstruktion seiner Vita ist aufwendig. Sie ist in Arbeit und wird diesem Katalog an die Seite gestellt.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Der Katalog bietet gut vierhundert Objekte, die in Rundum-Ansicht mit 16 Einstellungen fotografiert wurden. Alle sind beschrieben, beschlagwortet und nach verschiedenen Kriterien suchbar.
