Als gelernter Bildhauer entwarf bereits Theatergründer Anton Aicher seine ersten Figuren mit hohem künstlerischem Anspruch. Zu seinen berühmtesten Charakteren zählt der kleine \u003Ca title=\"Kasperl Larifari im Kulturpool\" href=\"\u002Fobjekte\u002Fa6239a2e-551a-4ff6-8d00-f584ec5b9bc7\">Kasperl Larifari\u003C\u002Fa> aus dem Jahr 1913. Um auf Tourneen vor einem größeren Publikum spielen zu können, wurden ab den 1930er Jahren größere Marionetten gebaut. Mit seinen Operninszenierungen erlangte das Theater später weltweite Bekanntheit. Mozarts „Die Zauberflöte“ mit Josef Magnus’ unverwechselbaren Puppenköpfen (z.
