The condition analysis also carried out as part of the project serves as a basis for the conservation treatment of the most endangered stones.

Compared to the existing photo documentation, the 3D documentation offers the advantage that the stones can be viewed orthogonally and scaled with the same incidence of light, in order to better recognise and verify similarities and matching pieces. The data also facilitates the reconstruction of burial structures through its exact dimensions and, if visible during the documentation process, also shows the often neglected sides and backs of the stones. The project thus opens up new perspectives in the research and preservation of our ancient cultural heritage.
",1616
3143
"Related links",1617
3144
[212,214
"Lupa's guiding principle is the wolf who raised Romulus and Remus, thus heralding the beginning of Roman history.
"The results of the project were published in the Austrian Journal of Art and Monument Preservation 2025.",431
3145
975,[222
1870,"The international image database Ubi Erat Lupa contains information, photos and 3D models of thousands of ancient stone monuments from the Roman Empire.","/en/search?refinementList=dataProvider%255B0%255D=Ubi%2520Erat%2520Lupa","See the digital objects
{"ifd0":229
3146
[235
"More articles","Read more about the digitisation of cultural heritage.","/en/content/articles","See all articles",432,[242,243],187,194
"daily",0.5,142]
