Located right in the heart of the city, The Albertina Museum combines imperial flair and modern art experience. Founded in 1776 by Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen, today’s Albertina is a modern museum with a collection of around 1.2 million works of art. The name Albertina stands not only for one of the most famous and largest graphic art collections in the world, but also for a multifaceted, exciting exhibition programme. Outstanding works of art from the Renaissance to the present day, from painting, drawing and graphics to installations and photography, are presented in more than 15 changing exhibitions per year. The classical modernism collection ‘Monet to Picasso. The Batliner collection’ is a permanent exhibition that provides a unique overview of the most exciting chapter of 130 years of art history, from French Impressionism to the present. On over 2,000 square meters The Albertina modern, which opened in 2020 on Karlsplatz, presents comprehensive exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.
