Salzburg
Founded in 1834, the Salzburg Museum is the oldest existing and most comprehensive museum dedicated to the art and cultural history of Salzburg. As a public and non-profit cultural and educational institution, it acts on behalf of the City and Province of Salzburg and works in the service of society.
The Salzburg Museum acquires, preserves, researches, presents and communicates Salzburg's cultural and historical heritage in its entirety on a continuous, sustainable and future-orientated basis. Since 2007, the main building of the Salzburg Museum has been located in the Neue Residenz in the heart of the historic city centre. Here, insights into Salzburg's cultural landscape are revealed from ever new perspectives.
Modern, exciting, interactive, entertaining and comprehensive – these are the keywords that characterise the Salzburg Museum as a place of art, history and experience in the heart of the historic centre.
