The Austrian Mediathek preserves Austria's audiovisual cultural heritage. Our archive contains over two million sound recordings and videos on Austrian cultural history. In cooperation with the Vienna Museum of Technology, we collect audio and video media from shellac records to video files and secure the collection permanently for the public with our digitisation and long-term archiving strategy.
The entire collection of the Austrian Mediathek is accessible to the public (presence archive, www.mediathek.at/service/publikumsbetrieb). Large parts of the collection can also be used via the Internet (www.mediathek.at): Permanent online exhibitions are dedicated to key topics, online databases make original recordings accessible.
