Transkribus is a comprehensive, AI-powered platform for the digitization, text recognition, transcription, and searching of historical documents. Developed through two EU-funded research projects, the platform is now maintained and developed by READ-COOP SCE. Transkribus automates the process of transcribing and editing text from various document types, including handwritten letters, manuscripts, books, newspapers, and other documents. Users can train custom AI models tailored to specific handwriting or print types, enrich documents with metadata, and collaborate with others.
It is widely used, among others, by archives, universities, and libraries to unlock and interpret historical materials.
