Sigmund Freud Museum

Vienna IX, Berggasse 19. Sigmund Freud lived and worked at this address for 47 years until the Nazi Anschluss forced his emigration in 1938. The Sigmund Freud Museum has been operating here since 1971. A permanent exhibition in Freud's former living and consulting rooms, art presentations, and special exhibitions convey Freud's multifaceted cultural legacy.

The archive documents the history of psychoanalysis, focusing on records related to Sigmund Freud and his family. The photographic archive is a significant component, almost all existing photographs of Sigmund Freud and his family (including his daughter Anna Freud), photographs of psychoanalytic congresses and societies, and portraits of Freud's teachers and colleagues from medicine, psychiatry, and the emerging psychoanalytic movement. Papers of prominent psychoanalysts and patients such as Richard Sterba, Paul Federn, Eva Rosenfeld, Michael Turnheim, and Margarethe Csonka-Trautenegg are featured. The object collection comprises drawings and paintings, prints, sculptures and contemporary art objects, and items belonging to the Freud family.
