Tyrol
Founded in 1745, the University and State Library of Tyrol in Innsbruck is the largest public academic library in Western Austria, with a collection of over 4 million media units. It offers a wide range of printed and digital resources, as well as regional literature.
The most valuable items in the collection include medieval and early modern manuscripts, incunabula, printed works from before 1800, hand drawings, prints, maps and globes. A majority of these objects come from monastic libraries in the historic region of Tyrol, from the Innsbruck imperial court, and Ambras Castle.
This cultural heritage of the region has grown throughout the centuries. Therefore, it must be preserved, catalogued and made accessible. The digitised holdings of the ULB Tirol can be viewed via the portal ULB : Digital. Currently, manuscripts from Stams Abbey are presented in the Kulturpool.
